Mercian Hockey
The new 2021 / 2022 range of sticks contains several key categories. The Elite models feature the highest levels of technology for the very best players. The Evolution sticks offer performance products for every level of senior (and some junior) hockey. These two collections are then comlimented by the Indoor and Goalkeeper selections and the Rebel range for educational products.
The Elite range sticks, with their distinctive oil-slick head graphic incorporate unique resins to bond the laminates of high-quality composite materials. The composition of the sticks are designed to give the very highest permitted levels of energy transfer whilst vibration control technology ensures they retain some touch and feel. The Evolution range of sticks with carbon contents running from 55% to 90% offer products for everyone. The softest model in a Pro bend – the CKF55 – is a fantastically valued entry level senior composite – offering a comfortable low bend with good levels of power and a litle bit of head weighting for assistance with hitting, slapping and stopping (a bit of head ‘mass’ helps control the ball! The top model – the CKF90 – features an enhanced Kevlar layer (have a look on the stick tech page) as well as a super-stiff outer shell to give the power that top players aspire to. It also looks great with the clean black carbon grahphics, white logo and oil-slick head graphic.
The Genesis range of sticks start with a simple wooden model, manufactured in India using generations old skills in classic wood working halls these models are perfect for beginner players. The various carbon levek sticks from the CF5 to the CKF35 then offer an increasing level of stiffness desired by different playing levels. The standard Pro bend is used in all sticks over 34″ to give a smooth low bend but also some head weighting on a full size head to help with hitting and slapping execution. The vibrant graphics also make these a fashionable and attractive item for younger players.
Mercian have run the Rebel range all the way back to the company’s beginnings in the 1970s. We feel it is vital that young players have a great experience with their first stick. The three wooden models are all based around a fantastic Ash and Mulberry wood core with a 7-ply laminated midi head, crafted in experienced wood working halls in Jalandhar, India, the multiple lengths and reinforcement make them a perfect introductory stick. If you play on hard courts, playgrounds or on hard floor halls, the plastic Barracuda may be better for you, With a more flexible shaft they work perfectly with a lightweight or larger training ball to really inspire the beginner players to stick with the game.
